The Mill is the home of our pottery workshop and showroom. Located on a beautiful farm, it is just outside Gilgil, nestled between Naivasha and Nakuru and a short drive off the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway. We are approximately two hours from Nairobi (depending on traffic!) and are open Wednesday – Saturday, 9am until 5pm.

We converted the premises in mid-2021 from an abandoned posho mill. Many of our staff were involved in the conversion, which involved replacing several walls, putting on a new roof and extending the veranda. This has allowed us the space for our talented artists to work, and for us to open a small showroom with a range of our latest products. The Mill is nestled on the edge of a hill and surrounded by grazing horses, with a flower farm nearby. On a clear day, you have views to Mt Eburu and Lake Naivasha to the east. |

Our painters, potters and clay maker all have a lovely outdoor space in which to work. The clay is mixed, moulded and aged in one area, while the potters and painters all sit under our large covered veranda to work. They then transfer the pottery to the kiln room when it is ready for firing. Finished products are put into storage, put on display in our showroom or sent out to customers as required. There is a relaxed and serene vibe to The Mill, making it the perfect location for the handcrafting of all our products. |

The Mill is also where we hold pottery workshops for both children and adults. Guests are given a tour of the workshop and showroom, where much of the process is explained to them and they can watch our artisans at work. They are then able to try their hand at throwing clay on the wheel, and at painting small pieces like an olive bowl or egg cup. This is later fired in the kiln and returned to guests as a sweet memento of their workshop experience!

Our space can also be hired out as a venue for parties, which can be catered, or where guests are welcome to bring their own supplies. We love hosting Pimms or Prosecco evenings, which are ideal for a hens’ night or as a celebration of a special birthday. Please contact us: admin@bakuliblu.com for further information about our party or workshop packages. |
